Squall's Dead?
^^^Stumbled across this last night, been reading for the past 4 hours.
Not defining it as the be-all, end-all for FFVIII, but dang if it doesn’t make the story make more sense. I always wondered why Squall’s Ice Shard wound being as if it never happened was really bizarre, as well as the ending.
IF this is the case, FFVIII has a really in-depth Shakespeare/Inception feel to it and I will easily turn it up a few notches as one of my personally-liked in-depth FF stories, as I previously had no real fascination for 8 beyond the SeeD final exam and the Garden Battle. I mean, Seifer killing Odin with one critical shot IS something that would happen in someone’s dream, not in “reality”. That was one of the truest WTF moments in FF gaming in my opinion, and it made logically no sense (within context of the game’s nature, it IS all fantasy, but even that was far-fetched as well as with a lot of things after the first disc).
Well, it’s good that I stumbled across this now, as I’ll be replaying it soon. Fetching for supporting clues of this theory is going to make it an interesting play-through.
Neat! Reblogging this so I can read it later.
